Casting
Design and Engineering – Tooling
Dickson can create new tooling based on your
requirements or employ customer supplied tooling. In many
cases we can adapt existing tooling to run on our machines
with little or no cost to you, the customer. Prototypes of
your casting design can be made if required. Prototypes can
be created by epoxy and rubber tooling, machined wax pattern
or stereolithography.

Dickson can create new patterns based on your
requirements or employ your supplied pattern. In many cases
we can adapt existing patterns to run on our machines with
little or no cost to you, the customer.

At
Dickson, we cast quality into every part we produce.
Quality is at the core of each area of production. We continuously
upgrade our systems to meet the ever-increasing demands for quality
and consistency. We cast in accordance with ASTM, AMS, AISI, SAE,
CDA, ICI and MIL specifications. Our modern analytical laboratory
includes a wide range of testing equipment featuring our state-of-the-art
spectrograph that uses NBS traceable standards. Alloy composition
is tested and verified for each heat poured.
All Dickson
vendors have been certified as quality suppliers. Material certifications
are required on all incoming materials. Statistical process control
techniques are used, starting with incoming raw materials and running
through final product shipment.
Other testing
services include hardness testing, magnetic particle, and liquid
penetrant inspections, Charpy impact, physical properties (tensile,
yield strength, area reduction, % elongation), and pressure testing |

Patterns
and Tooling - Our in house departments produce wood, plastic, metal
or rubber types of equipment needed to meet your casting requirements.
Heat Treatment - We provide secondary operations such as annealing,
hardening, carburizing.
Machining - We quote complete machined parts at competitive prices.
Finishing
- Vibratory, painting, passivation and plating – we offer
these value-added services at competitive prices.
Testing - We
test your sample pieces to verify material type. Non-destructive
testing, chemical analysis, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant.
Destructive testing: charpy, impact, tensile & yield.
