Design and Engineering – Tooling
Dickson can create new tooling based on your requirements
or employ customer supplied tooling. In many cases we can adapt
existing tooling to run on our machines with little or no cost to
you the customer. Prototypes of your casting design can be made
if required. Prototypes can be created by epoxy and rubber tooling,
machined wax pattern or stereolithography.

Wax
injection
We utilize automatic and manual injection machines.
This includes soluble wax cores needed to produce intricate internal
features. At Dickson, it’s common to have high and low volume
jobs being processed simultaneously.

Shell
Building
We build ceramic
shell molds using the best materials and the latest technology available,
all in a well-controlled environment. We control, monitor and adjust
the process as required to yield a strong well-built shell. |
 |
Foundry
Dickson gravity
pours castings from 1 oz. to 120 lbs. in a wide array of alloys
including carbon steels, low alloy, stainless steels, duplex alloys,
nickel base, tool steels and many copper based alloys. Our ability
to alloy and melt large and small charges provides our customer
greater flexibility in scheduling and pricing. We specialize in
high alloy heat and corrosion resistant stainless. |
 |
Finishing
Dickson relies
on rapid gate stock removal using automatic pressure assist grinding
machines. The ability to grind cast parts uniformly and quickly
means higher production rates and faster delivery to you, our customer.
We also offer vibratory finishing which avoids hand-polishing labor
on many castings. |
 |
Heat
Treatment
In many cases,
heat treatment is needed either before or after machining. Dickson
offers annealing and or hardening as required. |
Machining
We’re
capable of machining castings to your specifications. This has proved
to be a positive value added service that is on the rise. Pressure
testing of machined castings is also available. |
 |
Testing
Services
Our test lab
utilizes a modern (2003) spectrograph. We offer non-destructive
testing including chemical analysis, magnetic particle and liquid
penetrant inspections. Destructive testing includes charpy, impact,
tensile & yields. |
 |
Quality
Assurance
Quality is the
highest priority in every area of production. Statistical process
control and employee initiative contribute to insuring that our
customers consistently receive the highest quality castings possible. |
